His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam graced the Foundation Laying Ceremony of Masjid Jubli Intan. The ceremony was held at the mosque's construction site at STKRJ Kampung Mata-Mata, Mukim Gadong 'B'. Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons and brothers: His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik as Chairperson of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Committee of Governors; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

 

Upon arrival, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was greeted by Co-Advisors and Co-Chairpersons of the Executive Committee for the Construction of Masjid Jubli Intan.

 

The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

 

Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence, as CO-CHAIRMAN of the Executive Committee for the Construction of Masjid Jubli Intan in his welcoming remarks among other things highlighted His Majesty's reign, the world's longest-reigning monarch. Yang Berhormat Pehin expressed hope that the mosque becomes a symbol of His Majesty's wise and sovereign leadership as Ulul 'Amri who leads the nation based on the Malay Islamic Monarchy towards the noble aspiration of a country that is "baldatun ṭayyibatun wa rabbun ghafūr".

 

His Majesty then officiated the foundation laying ceremony of the mosque.

 

The mosque is capable of accommodating over four thousand congregants.

 

Doa Selamat was read by the State Mufti.

 

His Majesty then viewed an exhibition that showcased the mosque's traditional and modern architectural designs.

 

The Monarch then proceeded to a luncheon.
